Since I’ve been traveling so much and expect to do even more in the near future, I’m using this great online mail service where they scan images of your sealed envelopes, and with a few mouse clicks have your mail securely scanned into a PDF document, recycled, shredded or mailed to you or someone else.
I just got a notice that their introductory pricing is about to go up at the end of the month, but it’s only $10-12/month for their basic service now.
Go to: http://www.remotecontrolmail.com/
And where it says “Coupon Code” enter earth#39822 for a free month because of my referral.
Once you signup, you just have to fill out a form from the post office, get it notarized, and send it out so the USPS knows what’s up.
They’re transitioning names right now from Remote Control Mail to Earth Class Mail, so don’t be alarmed if you see both on their site. They are a reputable company and I have enjoyed their services all summer without a hitch!

The Live365 internet radio station A Cappella Always has added two tracks from my CD to their regular rotation!
Sam Rogers’ One Mouth Band brings us two tracks from 100% Organic Human: “Meter-ific” and “I Wanna Take U Higher.” Pretty impressive stuff for a single voice..
Song for Elliot July 15, 2007

Well, he’s reported to bounce anyway, I haven’t seen it firsthand. In tribute to the wee tot breathing air, I improvised a little ditty that Ryan used as the soundtrack to a slideshow he shares with family and friends. Had I known he was going to do this, I wouldn’t have recorded it on my iPod, but I guess it still sounds okay. What do you think?
Cheat the gas stations July 13, 2007

Or, more appropriately, keep them from cheating you so bad. You’ve probably heard to check your tire pressure, keep your car well tuned, and combine trips so you use less gas, but here are some less common tips to help you get more from the pump.
- Buy at Busy Stations - Gas station pumps that are refilled often are more likely to have fresh fuel. Fresh gas has more power than gas that has been sitting. That said, don’t just buy at the busy ones right off the freeway as they typically charge more for the same stuff 1/2-mile away.
- Buy at Night or Early Mornings - Pumps deliver more gas when temperature is lower. Who knew?
- Buy on Weekdays - Prices usually go up on the weekend, so typically the best time to purchase gas is Tuesday afternoons through Wednesday mornings.
- Buy Often - An empty gas tank uses more gas because your vehicle is running less efficiently. Fill up when you have half a tank.
- Pay Cash - Many gas stations offer up to $.15/gallon less if you pay cash instead of credit. Others that don’t even take credit cards keep their costs lower by doing so. Bonus airline miles or Discover rewards may make you think twice, but do the math. Chances are you’re probably still better off paying less and doing it with cash.
- Avoid Topping Off - When you top off your tank, the pump doesn’t have enough time to really activate, resulting in short bursts of fuel that are likely to shortchange you from the amount of gas that you are purchasing.
- Tighten that Gas Cap - This will prevent gas from evaporating and escaping into the air (and that’s no good for anybody!)
